Phase 3 USS Texas Sampson medal pair. The Sampson is impressed "John G. M. Johnsson, App 2d C.". Spanish Campaign # 5369 with second pattern ribbon. John Gustaf Mauritz Johnsson enlisted in the navy in 1897. He is confirmed on the muster roll of the USS Texas in 1898.

USS Iowa phase 3 Sampson Medal group to Commander Glennie Tarbox. The Sampson is impressed on the rim “Lieut. (JR. Grade) Glennie Tarbox”. With West Indies # 203 and Philippine # 519. Both campaign medals trace by number to Tarbox and have first pattern ribbons. With the medals is a stereo card of enlisted men on the USS Iowa and a photo of Tarbox’s grave at Arlington National Cemetery.
